(1Peter 2:11-25)

Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the King. 1Peter 2:17

That sums it all up pretty well I think. You did an excellent job breaking it down and explaining how it goes along with our current political process right now. I very much appreciate your dedication ,study and prayer time that goes into all your sermons.

Deanna PeekDeannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13711431294159569877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10880332.post-63379706372392481322008-10-06T18:16:00.000-07:002008-10-06T18:16:00.000-07:00Pastor Tim,Sunday's message was very appropriate a...Pastor Tim,

Sunday's message was very appropriate at this particular election time. It can be difficult to keep a Biblical perspective on our personal political bias. Hebrews 13:17 states we are to submit to our leaders' authority. Romans 13:1 and 6 states we are to submit to governing authorities because they have been established by God. These authorities are God's servants.

I find myself upset, anxious and fearful as I watch the Presidential and Vice-Presidential debates. I am distressed and disturbed by America's declining morality and the influence it has had on our younger as well as older generation. I am livid with our House and Senate as I witness laws put into effect protecting "our (adults) civil liberties" but allowing pornography on the internet accessible to our children. Yet we are to submit to these authorities?! That is just what the Bible says we are to do!

Pastor Tim, you clearly presented how and why we are to respond to the political climate Biblically. We need to participate actively with voting and if God calls us by running for an office. We may feel called to pursue right to life propositions, bills or candidates or issues relating to conservation. But we are to react and obey authority as Christ did (all of which have been outlined). Respect for others is one of the most powerful ways in which to witness to others.

As you pointed out Christians come in all types of political colors Republicans, Democrats, and don't forget the Libertarians.

;-) Denene KlostermanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
