I've been reading this good book. Very convicting. I had a little trouble figuring out how I fit into the "I obey therfore I am accepted". Knew I was doing it just not quite how. I was doing all sorts of Christian sounding things like: praying and crying out to God for help. But I was messed up in my expectations. I wanted a better life, better government, closer relationship with my husban, children making good decisions; more than I wanted deep fellowship with God. I pray and cry out to God. I respond correctly to my husband. I spend time teaching my children. I expect results. I do A, I get B. God won't let me get away with that so sometimes He sends C. Not what I wanted or expected. The convicting part is what I do with C. O Lord God help me to accept what ever you send. Help me to accept suffering as part of being accepted by and useful to you.Suzettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05051833689756139507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10880332.post-6477813610195401582008-10-30T11:01:00.000-07:002008-10-30T11:01:00.000-07:00Gospel wisdom is sooo counter-cultural and sooo gl...Gospel wisdom is sooo counter-cultural and sooo glory focused! love it!!!Clydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16840403973588595311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10880332.post-90496843194589725982008-10-29T22:27:00.000-07:002008-10-29T22:27:00.000-07:00As others noted, Great Reminder! Basically, the conclusion I came to is that whether the things I vote for--and believe God would have me vote for--win or not, God is still God. For some reason he has allowed things to happen as they have. God's purposes are bigger than simply winning a single election in 2008.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10880332.post-15265451215259203652008-10-28T23:34:00.000-07:002008-10-28T23:34:00.000-07:00Amen!I miss you all! I'v wondered if it is necessary to force government to validate a God given definition of marriage - God (and His definition of marriage) won't change either way. After your messages on marriage for the past few weeks I've been reminded that traditional views of marriage is very very very important and I will be voting "yes" but I still wonder if we are supposed to redeem the culture socially or politically? (Not trying to pick a fight, just struggling through this stuff.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10880332.post-63381435351901535512008-10-28T22:55:00.000-07:002008-10-28T22:55:00.000-07:00Wow. It's easy to get all worked up when a sign has been stolen from someone's yard. This really lays it for me: 1 John 2:17 is going up on my mirror!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
