All Aboard

So we decided to do something different this Thanksgiving holiday. . . .we decided to take the train down south to see family in Southern California. So we got on in SLO bright and early at 6:45 AM this morning and got off in Oceanside at 2:15 PM. I'm not sure they've ever seen so much checked baggage!

It was great! I got a short nap. Susie got to feed the baby without us having to pull over. The kids were able to walk around and watch movies on the laptop. The scenery was amazing. . . well most of the way. I got off feeling refreshed and ready to go. Why didn't someone tell us about this 3 years ago? I can't wait to do it again. We figure it took about the same amount of time as driving for our family of 6 at this stage of our lives and it cost about the same, too.

How was the surf check big boy??? You got a first hand check of all major surf spots and no comment?

Great choice for the vacation travel. I will try to do the same sometime. Enjoy the time with the family and put away all the wired stuff (woops even the wireless stuff). Have fun with the family and God Bless you all. Get fat with the food so I can drop you on the mountain bike this season...

That the train showed up is definately something to be thankful for...

Ok, the simple fact that it normally takes you almost EIGHT HOURS to get down to Oceanside is amazing...Andy would have a COW...I fear for my future children's bladders...

Yeah...eight hours would never happen on my watch. I am a "straight there as fast and painless as possible using every short cut" type of guy. If it takes me more than 2:45 to get to La Mirada from Santa Maria, I'm in a bad mood.

Jeannett already fears for her bladder, I never pull over. I won't even pull over for myself...I'd consider using an empty cup first!

Anal? Yes.

Efficient? Yes.

Retarded? Probably!

Tom Ramler tells me that kids are going to change my life!

Jeff, you'll probably agree!.

Tim,

Those trains really are nice to ride in. We have ridden them all over the state, even to Reno once. Sometimes the family and I will ride the train down to Santa Barbara for the weekend...(zoo, natural history museum, mission Santa Barbara, shopping, etc.) It's a great trip all around.
Check it out!
