The Parable Group arranged a special advanced screening of The Nativity Story on Tuesday afternoon. I took all four kids while Susie packed for our Thanksgiving getaway.
I'm skeptical of visual representations of Biblical truth, but liked this one a bunch.
The Biblical details surrounding the birth of our Lord are skeleton. The film does a great job filling in the missing details in a way that makes the events come to life in a plausible and, for the most part, Biblically accurate way.
The film opens on December 1st. I think it's going to be big. It does not deal with the "Why" questions and so I think it will provide opportunities to give "a reason for the hope within." So go see it and be ready. And then come back and share your own impressions.

Awesome, awesome movie! I was very into it, and I am looking forward to watching it every Christmas. It helped me renew my Christmas appreciation!
We loved it! The character of Joseph was both vulnerable and strong. I loved his line "I wonder if I will be able to teach Him anything?" as he and Mary conversed on their way to Bethlehem. The character of the shepherd who offered them rest and warmth on their way was indicative of many of us; we feel we have little to offer the world. Yet he had clung to the words of his father, "we each have a gift to give the world" and then he told Mary hers was what she carried inside. I really think this film was well done in so many ways. Everyone should see it! You know we can vote with our dollars as to our preferences for films....
