Cereal

If you were here on Sunday, you will get the title of this post. If not, I strongly suggest you make time to listen and process "The Gospel & Your Sex Life."

Sunday morning was fun together coming under God's Word together in this most intimate area. Needless to say the comments and emails have kept the joy going all week since. I trust and pray there has been much application of God's Word happening, in which ever state you find yourself in . . . .single or married.

In the message I mentioned the racy and sensual book of Song of Solomon. So here, for your listening pleasure, are two messages keying off of Song of Solomon delivered at the 2004 Desiring God National Conference which focused on the theme, "Sex & the Supremacy of God." One message is from C.J. Mahaney and target's men, but the other delivered by Mahaney's wife, Carolyn, was addressed specifically to women.

Sex, Romance, and the Glory of Christ: What Every Christian Husband Needs to Know. . . .with C.J. Mahaney

Sex, Romance, and the Glory of Christ: What Every Christian Wife Needs to Know. . . .with Carolyn Mahaney

Listen and let me know what you think and how you're processing . . . .

My parent's gave us a bible study series on Song of Solomon after Kyle and I got engaged. It is by Tommy Nelson and called "SOng of Solomon: God's best for love, marriage, sex, and romance". It is on CD, and there are study books to go with it. We loved listening to it in preparation for our marriage and are considering giving it another listen in light of the recent sermons at Grace...

A few random thoughts:
-As we left church, I casually mentioned to Charlene that I wonder how many new babies will be born at Grace in the July/August 2009 time frame. The power of your influence as a pastor, Pastor Tim!

-I'd also be interested to know how many couples start using "cereal" as their code word for you-know-what.

-And I've already heard some people (perhaps jokingly) talk about having cereal for dinner at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pity those of us in the know...

The book the Freisen's recommend is:

Intimacy Ignited: Kindling Your Love Life With the Song of Solomon by Joseph and Linda Dillow. They wrote it with another couple and recommend couples read it together.

Missy Grant also did a great talk last year for the ladies at Grace. It is under Listening Resources Pearls of Wisdom. http://mp3.graceslo.org/grow/Women'sMinistry/MP3's/2008/Sexuality.mp3

Missy did address how age and health problems can be a factor. It was very well done.
