What do you think?

Not sure where he got it, but Josh Ernstrom sent me this still from the upcoming Indiana Jones movie. He says it's a shot of Morro Rock with the Seven Sisters in the background. What do you think?

I could see that. Most likely, it's just a map painting, but I can definitely see where Josh is coming from.

Guess you guys are famous :-)

Yes, it is, with what looks like a DC-3. If you blow it up you can see the powerplant in the background to the left of morro rock.

This is a still frame from the movie's teaser trailer that came out yesterday.

I've studied digital matte paintings and such, and I think it's actual video footage with some CGI work. There's no doubt in my mind that it's a shot from the Central Coast.

Actually, it's a popular spot for Hollywood movies, there's some shots from Jurrasic Park that was taken of the Central Coast.

Good guess on the matte painting, Brian. I will look at the shot later at hi-rez, but it's probably live-action plate with CG plane.

But it's definitely Morro rock - painting or no.

By the way, tons of Pirates was shot in Guadalupe.

Yes, it is Morro Rock, etc, with a CG (computer generated) plane. Cool.

The scene in Pirates III where Jack sails down the dunes onto the beach and meets everyone else was one of the shots done on the dunes in Guadalupe.

Haha. Silly me. I didn't bother to click on the picture to see the larger image. Those are definitely the smoke stacks at Morro Bay. That's totally cool!

And I had no idea that shot of Jack in Pirates was shot at Guadalupe. Amazing!

Here's a photo of Morro Rock from the water level, with a screen-grab from the trailer... a bit different angle, but no question here. Neat!
