bearing one another's burdens
Those in our church are well aware of the Newby and Kalman families who are neck deep in this long struggle called "cancer."
Both Randy, a 40 something husband and dad of two, and Calli, an under 20 year old young lady with a bright life ahead of her, are shining for the Lord as they struggle through really tough surgeries and what seem like endless rounds of chemo. They both have been a great example to me of how it's possible not to waste your cancer, but magnify the Lord through it.
As a church, we've been endeavoring to do what we can to "bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2) with these families. It's been exciting to me to see others naturally and lovingly rally around these two families.
In that spirit, several families are rallying around the Kalman family to put together and promote a benefit fundraiser on Sunday, April 27. Disney has graciously given permission to show one of Calli's favorite movies, "Remember the Titans" at the big Fremont Theater.
Click on the flyer below to catch all the details. Hope you can make it. I know our family will do all we can to be there.
