going green
For the first time this morning, I rode my bike to work from Shell Beach. Rolled out at 5:45 to make it in time for my standing 6:30 meeting with our elder chairman, Scott Morton. It was dark but warm. Felt great to sneak in a few miles before the day began and I can't wait to ride home this afternoon.
I've been trying to figure out a way to do this, without being stinky all day. The new showers in the Early Childhood Center have made it possible. Yahoo!
It definitely requires advance planning to bring my clothes and everything the day before, so I don't have to wear a big backpack. I'm shooting for once, maybe twice a week for now. . . .

You are too funny, Tim! But that is great that you have this little luxury to lean on. I love the new stuff.
Did the City require you guys to put in the shower? I know they were toying with the idea to require showers in all commercial development to help encourage just what you are doing. Our office has a shower too...but I have to admit it's a bit disconcerting to be walking by and hearing the water and knowing that someone is in there...well...showering. But, I'm sure with time that will fade and it'll be normal.
Jeannett,
As far as I am aware, we were not required by the city to install showers. We went back and forth and in the end, weighed the costs/benefits and went for it, while we had the opportunity. I was dressed and at my desk before any of our other staff arrived. Its nice that our showers are located in a building far away from our staff work space. The controls are also lock and key so that we can control use of the showers as needed.
Glad they are there. . . .
Yeah, our shower is right next to the break room...which is right next to the copy machine. Mike likes to sing in there. Fun.
